Suspension of Reality
Today at work there was a Diwali celebration..post Diwali celebration actually(Diwali being a National Holiday). I saw team members all dressed up in Indian clothes,.Laughter and engaging in the Diwali mood having fun. Its nice to be part of such teams, makes one feel included and gives the illusion of team support. The event started with list of Bollywood movie clips and it was interesting to note that all clips actually did not reflect how Diwali is celebrated in most local home. The clip had elaborated clothes, dancing and decoration to the max, the ones that the super rich would have. Most local people will not be able to celebrate Diwali in this manner, hence it was not a true reflection of the everyday life for most. Maybe the organisors wanted a nice to see 'suspension of reality' kind of program. Bollywood movies are mostly suspension of reality where things that happen on the silver screen rarely happens in real life. It is nice to see suspension of reality taki
