Living in a City

As i watched today some reruns of Sex and the City episodes reminded me of my time in my 30s. Just like Carrie Bradshow i was also having men issues.I would see the same flaws as Carrie saw and would end my relationships.
Was i being too judgemental? afraid or just influenced by the Carrie Bradshow?
Now looking back of those series makes me reflect exactly how i felt then 18 years ago.
I knew what i wanted and did not settle for something that was not me, i was ready for commitment but never met the right person. They were all right at first until i found something which i could not stand. But now looking back i know i have made the right decision.

I may grow old alone and die alone, but one thing i know for sure is that i lived my live they way i wanted and did not suffer in silence.
Hey life is full of surprise..i may just meet Mr Right sometime soon

Single or Married

Being single sometimes can be viewed as negative in the society i live in...i was mostly viewed as someone fussy or with flaws that one men wanted to marry me....it that really true?  Now that i am in my 50s and wiser and looking at friends around me...married once are getting divorced, living in a broken relationship, or are widowed. Suspension of Reality

Today at work there was a Diwali celebration..post Diwali celebration actually(Diwali being a National Holiday). I saw team members all dressed up in Indian clothes,.Laughter and engaging in the Diwali mood having fun. Its nice to be part of such teams, makes one feel included and gives the illusion of team support. The event started with list of Bollywood movie clips and it was interesting to note that all clips actually  did not reflect how Diwali is celebrated in most local home. The clip had elaborated clothes, dancing and decoration to the max, the ones that the super rich would have. Most local people  will not be able to celebrate Diwali in this manner, hence it was not a true reflection of the everyday life for most. Maybe the organisors wanted a nice to see 'suspension of reality' kind of program. Gender Equality - PressforProgress

Today is the International Women's Day and i attended an event at my workplace.  We had a very dynamic female speaker who spoke very well how she made it to the top. From hardship to flying high..from rags to riches. I wonder if she told the whole truth on how she got to become the VP.  I sometimes feel people tell  the nice stuff and don't share the actual reason for their  journey upward in the corporate world. Interestingly she did not speak of gender equality and issues faced in her journey.  She never mentioned once that she had to fight very hard with her male counter parts, or did not mention any gender issues on her being treated differently within her family or her society that she grew up in. I am guessing if someone dont face such challenges when they are growing up, maybe the path upward anywhere is  made less difficult.
